Our Story

In 1997 our founder, Scott Stanley, opened Max’s Market and Bakery, a community restaurant in Fresno, CA.  Everything was baked fresh each day in a 300 square foot corner of the restaurant’s kitchen and it was all sold exclusively at the restaurant.

As the popularity of Max’s Bread began to grow and word spread, Max’s Market and Bakery began to provide bread to a number of local small businesses. Before we knew it, we were selling more bread than we could bake in the restaurant’s kitchen!

To handle the large influx of business, the baking operation was moved to a separate location, and Max’s Artisan Breads was born. What started as selling baguettes and sourdough to a few local businesses has now flourished into producing an extensive selection and tens of thousands of pieces of bread each day, and growing.

Today we bring our decades of experience in the industry combined with our 75,000+ SF facility, state-of-the-art equipment and expert bakers, to produce exceptional quality breads to the exact specifications of our customers.

We currently distribute our products throughout California, as well as many other states, through our partnerships with the largest food service distributors in the country. In addition, we offer local delivery service in California’s Central Valley. We provide exceptional service and quality and are proud to be the trusted baking partner to so many fine establishments.
